I used 1/2 sheets of black card stock and Crayola Watercolor Pencils. ** I did not use water in this lesson. I used them just as colored pencils. This is the first lesson I’ve done using color pencil on black paper.
We began going step by step drawing the turkey.
We discuss shading with the color pencils, pressing harder will create a brighter shade of the color, lighter with the pencil will create a darker shade because the black paper shows through.
I guide them step by step starting with the turkeys body, then on to the details. The tail feathers are last. I show them how to create a transition of 3 colors on each feather.
