Just a few supplies are required for these PUMPKIN SKETCHES. This is a perfect lesson to teach remotely or in class on the days closest to halloween. No mess, all you need is a pencil, eraser and paper and you can review or introduce still life drawing concepts, with shadows, shading, background.
Pumpkin Sketches Halloween Art
This is a fun & festive drawing lesson for 3rd grade & up. It covers basic drawing concepts: shadows, shading, background.
Materials: pencil, pink eraser, drawing paper
This simple pumpkin sketch starts with an oval and then divide up the sections of the pumpkin.
Add in the stem.
After the sketch is done, add the shadow and the background. Then add shading on one section of the pumpkin at a time. Using our finger to smudge the pencil along the way.
The students love that their pumpkins look “real”.
Adding in bats flying in the air is a fun little bonus to spooky it up!!!
Happy Halloween!
Hi,
Your blog is amazing!! Thank you. I am an artist and art teacher in three schools in Orange County. Interestingly, I have planned very similar lessons, I am inspired by your special approach.
I too find many ideas online and I can tell it is liberating to give back.
Thank you again,
Amy Jackson
