I’m sure I’ve posted this lesson before… I’ve done this lesson with various grade levels and with birds or mice instead of fish and also with tempera paint instead of watercolor pencils.
Materials: Long pieces of watercolor paper, Crayola Watercolor Pencils (only red, yellow & blue are needed), pencil, eraser, small paint brush, water cups.
Draw the 6 little fish and the wavy line for the sand.
We go step by step coloring in each fish, going care fully around the eye,
red fish
then for the orange fish I start with solid yellow and lightly color red on top
then the yellow fish
For the green fish, start with solid yellow and lightly color blue on top
then the blue fish,
the purple fish is a light coat of blue and a light coat of red on top.
For the sand I start with yellow, then lightly color red & blue on top.
Once everything is colored we begin using a small amount of water on the brush and paint over each fish, rinsing the brush well after each color (I always start with yellow before the water gets dirty). Once the fish are painted we paint the sand. They love seeing all of the colors together turn into brown.
Thanks for stopping by!
